ZURICH: The 18-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and the world number one Andy Murray played tennis on a boat at Limmat River to commence proceedings of the ‘Match for Africa 3’.
The purpose of this promotional campaign was to raise funds for Roger Federer Foundation that supports kids in Switzerland and South Africa to have an education. Roger Federer helps kids from Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Switzerland.
Both stars featured in a three-set tennis match afterwards at Hallenstadion. Federer and Murray also had a photoshoot near the Limmat River and met the Zurich Mayor Corine Mauch.
An amount of around 2 million euros was expected to be raised during the campaign, and all of it will go to the Roger Federer Foundation to help kids.
