CM Khattak defends KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Tuesday informed the KP Assembly that provincial assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was not guilty of any offence rather National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated inquiry against him after receiving an anonymous letter.

Responding to a point of order of PML-N parliamentary leader in KP Assembly Sardar Aurangzeb Nalota, he said Asad Qaiser was ready to present himself for accountability.

Parliamentary leader Aurangzeb Nalota said that PTI Chief Imran Khan always pointed finger at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and demanded his resignation after Panama leaks but unfortunately remained silent over accumulation of property beyond resources by Asad Qaiser and inquiry by NAB.

Nalota said, ‘We have reposed confidence in the speaker and deputy speaker and appointed Asad Qaiser and Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi as speaker and deputy speaker unopposed respectively.”

He deplored that corruption scam surfaced against Asad Qaiser but said he did not demand his resignation, adding PTI leadership should remember that they missed no chance to defame Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but PML-N was not getting involved in any such activity as the Asad Qaiser was not proved guilty and has mere allegations.

PPP Parliamentary leader Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha said on the occasion that the issue should be discussed when Asad Qaiser was present in the House.

Provincial Minister for Health and Public Engineering Shah Farman said NAB received 200 complaints on daily basis and anonymous letter against Asad Qaiser was among one of those.

He said KP government established Ehtisaab Commission to take the corrupt people to task, adding that PTI wanted accountability of each and every person and as far as Asad Qaiser was concerned he was ready to present himself before the NAB.

Meanwhile, PTI MPA Ziaullah Afridi annoyed with his own government in KP, said PTI Chief Imran Khan had acknowledged that the Ehtisaab Commission (EC) was failed to deliver.

He said that he was arrested by EC officials who were illegally appointed. He said that there was difference between EC and NAB adding that NAB had its own mechanism but the EC was a failure.

ANP Parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babar said that the ANP has clear stance on corruption. He said that allegations and media trails have put people into unwanted distress.

Leader of the Opposition Maulana Lutfur Rehman said that it was unwise to pass comments on cases that were in courts. He said that the PTI leadership has to accept that politics of allegations was started by them.

Rashad Khan of PMLN slammed PTI for doing nothing during four year in power in KP. Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F said that pointing figure at each other was against teaching of Islam and democratic norms.
