Punjab Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed Ud Din chaired a meeting regarding the implementation of the Women’s Package 2017 here on Monday.
Department Secretary Bushra Aman BushraAman briefed the meeting regarding initiatives of the Women’s Package which include the formulation of a provincial gender policy, mobile units to provide breast cancer screenings in rural areas, legal reforms in Christian and family inheritance laws, business training for 16,600 women entrepreneurs, IT training by the department through the PITB, skill development of 40,000 female students with stipends of Rs 1000 per month, and interest-free micro-finance to 300,000 women to start own business.
The meeting was informed that IT training has been started in women’s colleges identified by the department and training by the PITB has been completed in 4 out of the 10 colleges. The minister directed officials to submit a report in this regard during the next meeting. The meeting was also briefed that the formulation of a gender policy had been begun and that the department had hired a consultancy.
