Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the lack of provision for street lights. Without street lights, city roads turn in to a haven for criminals. Majority of residential and commercial areas of city are reeling under darkness due to this lack of streetlights. The number of crimes includes robbery, chain snatching and kidnapping, as the criminals take advantage of the dark and blatantly carry on their misdeeds. Darkness along the streets also makes it easy for illegal dumping of garbage and untreated sewage by private owners. A few patches of VIP roads and areas roads are also in darkness. Not a single street light was functioning for long stretches on these roads.
