Pollution in Karachi: the role of public vehicles must be investigated

May I invite the attention of the concerned authorities through your esteemed paper, towards the excessive noise level and the pollution caused by the public vehicles on the roads of Karachi.

Karachi suffers from the excessive noise level and pollution caused by buses, autos and other vehicles. The percentage of non-polluting buses and autos is so sparse – perhaps 1 out of 10. During peak-hours when I ride my bike to work, autos and buses are the major occupants of the arterial roads and commuters are forced to suffer the smoke and noise these vehicles emit. Can’t the city administration do something about this?

My opinion is that of a layman’s and I wouldn’t be able to calculate the exact percentage of vehicles which aren’t contributing to the pollution. But I allow myself to guess that, if just autos and buses are made environment friendly, Karachi would be much much better.

I request the concerned authorities to take prompt action to provide relief to the suffering people of Karachi.
