Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi allegedly spoke on the phone and exchanged views on by-polls in PP-23 Chakwal.
According to sources, the two leaders reiterated their resolve to stop rigging in by-polls and took the stance that it made no difference if the PPP did not support them in the by-polls. “We are going to the people on the basis of our performance and principled stands. We hope we will be successful,” they maintained, the sources said.
By-polls in PP-23 Chakwal will take place on April 18.
PTI spokesperson refutes news of telephone call: PTI Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry refuted news that Imran Khan had contacted Pervaiz Ellahi and termed the news absurd and baseless.
He expressed his views in a statement issued here on Saturday. He stated that PTI Chief Imran Khan did not contact PML -Q leader Pervaiz Elahi to exchange views on by polls in PP-23 Chakwal.
He stated that “PTI condemns all such news. This kind of news not only harms the party’s reputation but leaves a negative impact on party workers”.
The news regarding the telephone call came to the fore on media midday on Saturday.
