‘Sports decrease stress in life’

The colorful opening ceremony of the first District Government Hockey Championship was held here on Friday at the Sports Complex Mardan.

District Sports Committee Chairman Asif Khan was the chief guest on the occasion while District Sports Officer Munawar Khan, District Member Ali Gohar and others were also present on the occasion.

Asif Khan said, ‘Sports not only keeps the people physically strong but also goes a long way in keeping you stress-free and mentally fit’.

He said this was the first step towards promotion of hockey in the district, and will conduct league in each quarter of the year to strengthen game. “Now there is a dire need to pragmatic steps like this tournament to regain lost hockey glory,” he added.

The first match of tournament was played between Shergarh and Pakistan Hockey Club, and Shergarh Club won the match with 4 goals.
