ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted risk of flash flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas of Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir due to heavy rainfall.
The Met Department has predicted rain-thunderstorm associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Hazara division, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir along with isolated places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu divisions), FATA, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions for the next 12 hours.
Rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavyfalls/hailstorm is also expected at a number of places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.
“Heavyfalls with hailstorm are also expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions and Islamabad. Due to heavyfalls there is a risk of flash flooding and landsliding in vulnerable areas of Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir,” PMD stated.
Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm (associated with gusty winds) is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Several parts of the country including Kakul, Dir, Parachinar, Malamjabba, Kalam, Pattan, Balakot, Saidu Sharif, Peshawar, Cherat, Lower Dir, Risalpur, Drosh, Chitral, Mirkhani, Murree, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kamra, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Jhang, Gujrat, D.G. Khan, Bhakkar, Garidupatta, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Kotli, Astore 31, Skardu, Gupis, Bagrote, Chillas, Bunji, Hunza, Gilgit, Barkhan received rainfall.
