  • Army chief says Pakistan positively engage in region to bring peace, stability

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan is a peace loving country and wish to resolve all unresolved issues with India including core issue of Jammu Kashmir.

Addressing International Institute for Strategic Studies, a British think tank, here, he shared his thoughts on regional and international security environment, challenges and way forward. He talked in details about security situation in Afghanistan and its impact on peace and stability in region and beyond.

General Bajwa also apprised the participants about Pakistan’s achievements in its efforts against terrorism and militancy. He also highlighted prospects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) towards economic development of the region.

The think tank appreciated candid expression of the visiting army chief and acknowledged the Pakistan Army’s contributions towards peace and stability. Earlier, General Bajwa also addressed the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), another think tank.

He shared his thoughts on geo-pol environment, security challenges and role of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army towards peace and stability. He said that Pakistan was positively engaged to bring about peace and stability in the region including Afghanistan.

A reception was hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in the honour of General Qamar Bajwa. On the occasion, the army chief interacted with UK based Pakistani community. He apprised them about environment in Pakistan, achievements in efforts against terrorism and militancy and projected its results through whole of nation approach.

He hailed role of oversees Pakistanis towards progress of Pakistan and assured them that the Pakistan Army shall perform its due role towards security of Pakistan. The Pakistanis expressed their pride in role and contributions of the Pakistan Army towards well-being of the nation.

On arrival, the army chief was received by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to UK Syed Ibne Abbas.
