Islamabad: Under the nose of Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, the elected representatives and Islamabad police have locked horns. Both officials, who are supposed to serve the citizens, have started accusing and cursing each other over the land grabbing issue in Bahra Kahu.

A conflict has arisen between Bahra Kahu Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Arif Shah and Chairman UC-5 Raja Wahid, as they are hanging boards with cuss-words printed against each other in Bahra Kahu Islamabad, it has been learnt.

Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz said that this is unfortunate. “I will form a committee in this regard today (Thursday)  including the presence of the officers from Islamabad Police and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to investigate the matter thoroughly,” he said. He further said that this kind of behaviour is punishable, adding that anyone found guilty would have to face strict disciplinary action.

Both individuals of Islamabad Police and MCI have hurled allegations that the other one is trying to occupy the precious land, which is worth billions.

Ahmed Basra, a resident said that what is the fault of public here, where are the authorities. “Why should the public have to see these boards hanging outside their homes with cheap words and profane pictures on it,’ he said adding that it is embarrassing for the residents.

While talking, DSP Arif Shah alleged that UC-5 chairman Raja Wahid along with Raja Zahid and Shabbir Abbasi are land grabbers and they went beyond decency and hanged boards in which my pictures are printed with four dogs, signed barking.

He said that there are already six FIR’s registered against Raja Zahid, and two-dozen FIRs have been registered against Qaisar Gaffar, Hafiz Hassan Athar; and there are many inquiries pending with CDA against UC-5 chairman regarding land grabs.

“There are 27 FIR’s have been registered so far against Shabbir Abbasi over illegal occupying the state’s and people land,” he said.

He further said that legal notices have been issued to all of them for their cheap action.

However, in a letter written by UC-5 chairman, available with Pakistan Today, it is stated that DSP Arif Shah has misused his authority and hanged the streamers with his picture in uniform on top. “He is using his official position to harass the public, particularly the citizens who had registered complaints against him in past and also threatening them of consequences,” the letter noted.

Kashif Mehdi, a resident of Bahra Kahu expressed his concerns and said that if the elected representatives, police officials go to that extent, then, on whom the public will have to rely? He said that Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan should form a committee to start probe into this matter and fix the responsibility.

Repeated attempts were made to contact UC-5 chairmen, Raja Wahid and he was also sent a text message regarding the matter, but he did not respond first and then powered his cell phone off.

When contacted, PRO for Inspector General Police Islamabad, Ziaul Qamar refused to comment on the matter, adding that he was unaware of such development.
