Security beefed up following Lahore blast

KARACHI: Security across the province, especially in Karachi, has been put on high alert to thwart any untoward incident after a deadly suicide attack in Lahore.

A suicide bomber killed at least six people, including four soldiers, and wounded 19 in Lahore on Wednesday.

On directives of IG Sindh, AD Khawaja, security checking has been tightened at all the key national installations including sensitive government departments, mosques, imam bar gahs, and government buildings across the province including Karachi.

The numbers of security agencies’ personnel at all entry and exit points of Karachi and other major cities of Sindh have been increased while the checking has also been made stricter.

Additional security has been provided to population census teams.
