LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has ordered to remove blasphemous content from social media on an immediate basis.
The hearing bench has directed the authorities to eliminate the profane material from social networking websites.
LHC has also sought a report from federation and interior ministry in two weeks.
Earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had decided to form cybersecurity directorate for the surveillance of blasphemous content.
The Interior Minister told media that Facebook has assured Pakistan that concerns about blasphemous content on the social media site will be addressed and a company delegation will visit this week to discuss the issue with the government.
