Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, while expressing concern over Lahore suicide attack on census team, said that due to government’s failure in target action against militants in Punjab, such terrorist acts were taking place.

Asfandyar Wali Khan through a press statement on Wednesday said that such type of inhuman, immoral and unethical acts should be condemned. He extended sympathies to the members of bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.

However, the ANP leader was critical of government; he said, “All sort of operations against militants are confined to media.” In this respect, he diverted attentions towards his party’s demands for targeted action against all those who are either directly involved or supporting terrorist acts throughout Punjab.

He further said that Lahore attack seemed to be an attempt of sabotaging the census. He urged the government to ensure proper safety and security of officials engaged in the census process.

Asfandyar also showed concern over increasing tension between Islamabad and Kabul, which according to him were proving beneficial to the militants. He urged both Pakistan and Afghanistan to go for early resolving of all issues and misunderstanding through table talks.
