The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended three office-bearers of suspended Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) for assaulting a local journalist within the premises of the CDA, on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a group of CBA worker union led by head Mehmood Ali, vice president Sardar Muhammad Asif, and Tufail Mehmood attacked a local journalist, Fida Khan, who was stripped and subjected to torture. CBA workers ran away showing dagger and warnings of dire consequences.

After that, the journalist had lodged a complaint with Rescue 15 at 5 pm and went to Police Station Aabpara to register an FIR.

Interestingly, the police claimed that they have received application against the journalist 15 minutes before the incident. Police, however, due to certain reasons, had refused to register FIR against Ch Yaseen group.

Apparently, the police reaction towards the matter revealed that they had their hand in glove with Yaseen’s group. Though, police struggled to settle the matter down between both parties on Tuesday night.

On a refusal of the reporters, a meeting was called by the CDA beat reporters with CDA chief on Wednesday. CDA chief took strict notice of this pre-planned incident and directed Member Administration CDA, Muhammad Yasir Peerzada to form a committee to probe into the matter on merit.

Meanwhile, a large number of CDA employees were also gathered outside the chairman office under the leadership of CBA Secretary General Chaudhry Yaseen. However, through the gathering of CDA labourers, Yaseen’s desperate attempts to swipe the matter under the rug proved hollow.

Subsequently, the journalist community lauded the step taken by CDA higher ups against their own employees over misconduct whereas the community also resolved that it will not allow any reporter to go beyond the limits and journalistic norms at any cost.

It is yet to be seen that the high-ups of Islamabad Police will take action, register an FIR against the officials of CBA.

When contacted, SHO Aabpara, Tanvir Abbasi refused to lodge FIR, adding that the matter is now on the table of DSP Aabpara Circle Fida Hussain Satti, and he can nothing about it.
