5.0 magnitude earthquake jolts parts of KP

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Mansehra, Chitral, Mingora and adjoining areas on Tuesday at a depth of 159 km, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

“The quake’s epicentre was Hindu Kush region, Afghanistan,” PMD said.

People rushed out of their houses and offices in panic. However, PDMA spokesperson for KP said no loss of life has been reported thus far.

Last month, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.“The epicentre of the quake was near Hazro, Punjab and occurred at a depth of 12km,” PMD said on Twitter.

According to media reports, tremors were also felt in Nowshera, Haripur and Swabi as well. People rushed out of their houses and offices in panic. However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported.
