Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has said that corruption would not be tolerated in the judiciary at any level and that judges should ensure the delivery of justice at all costs.

Addressing judges and district courts’ personnel here on Monday, he said that being a judge was a great blessing and that therefore, “we must ensure the delivery of justice without favouritism”. Justice can only be delivered when there is no corrupt element in the judiciary at any level, he added.

The chief justice said that as many facilities as possible will be provided to judges and staff, but at the same time, corruption would not be tolerated at any level. He said that courts in Attock have made history by disposing of a record number of cases and that the credit for the feat goes to the District and Sessions Judge Sohail Nasir.

CJ Mansoor said that the judiciary was playing its due role and emphasised that journalists should highlight the judiciary’s performance to the public.

Musaliha Centres are being established to facilitate the people, he said, adding that the roles of the bar, police, and prosecution were important in disposing of a record number of cases in Attock. The chief justice listened to the problems of the judicial staff and assured the early resolution of the same.

Earlier, Senior Civil Judge Raja Jahanzaib Akhtar informed the chief justice that all civil cases till 2011 had been disposed of while cases till 2013 will be disposed of by December.

Raja Jahanzaib Akhtar said that all verdicts of the Attock courts were uploaded onto the official website within 48 hours after resolution, while all FIRs could also be checked on the website for the convenience of the accused and others concerned.

Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah also inaugurated a tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in the lawn of the sessions’ court.

District and Sessions Judge Attock Sohail Nasir, other judges, Divisional Forest Officer Kamran Kazmi, and various court employees were also present on the occasion.
