Sherpao terms FATA-KP merger as cosmetic

 

 

Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has expressed grave concern over the unannounced and excessive loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a public meeting at Village Shakoor, Tehsil Tangi, he regretted that the prime minister’s claims of ending loadshedding in 2018would not be beneficial for the KPK unless the whole system of distribution and transmission was overhauled, said a press release issued here on Sunday.

Aftab Sherpao said that KP was producer of the cheaper hydel electricity through its resources but it had not been benefited to utilize the same for its welfare. He said unannounced and hours long loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkha was badly affecting the socio-economic activities of KP people.

He said that federal cabinet’s decision on the merger of FATA was not sufficient as it had doubted sincerity of the federal government towards Pukhtuns. He termed the measures for the FATA-KP merger as cosmetic and non-serious. He said that concerted steps were strongly needed to enable the institutions for the rapid work in this regard.

He said that NAP should be truly enforced and should be made dynamic and proactive to serve the needs of the country. He called upon the federal government to discard step motherly towards Pukhtuns and remove their grievance. Sherpao said that the reopening of border was a good omen it should be utilized as first step to further solidify the relations between two neighbors.

He suggested step by step measures to normalize the strained relations. He contended that step should be adopted for the normalization between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the movement at the both sides for the trade and social activities should be making sure for the goodwill gesture and to boost up trade and social relations between the two countries.
