Fazl says Islamic parties believe in nonviolence

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Fazlur Rahman has said that Islamic parties believe in nonviolence and peaceful struggle for getting good objectives.

“Religious parties and people believe in peace and nonviolence and determined to maintain relations with rest of the world in according with the Islamic norms,” he remarked during a press conference at Azakhel Nowsehra on Saturday.

Flanked by his party’s senior leaders including Deputy Chairman of Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the JUI-f chief said that they were expecting that three to four million people to attend three-day international gathering to be held from April 7. Imam Kaaba will lead the Jumma prays on the first day of the gathering, he remarked.

“Now Pakistan and India are two different countries. Therefore, priorities and policies of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind are different,” he told a questioner after the press conference. “We (JUI-F) are considering Islamic norms as foundation of Pakistan and we are working on that lines, whereas JUI-Hind considers India as a secular,” he explained.

However, he said that there was no differences in policies of both the parties as they equally believe in nonviolent and peaceful struggle for its objectives. When questioned his advice to the government when the world is being divided into two visible blocks, Fazl said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was an economic project and doesn’t meant for strategic purposes.

However, he said that in the light of current situation, Pakistan needs to remain neutral. “Pakistan couldn’t afford hostilities and confrontation with any one,” he said. When asked about relations with Afghanistan, he said that Pakistan must remain in cordial and friendly relations with all neighbouring countries.

He said that the peaceful Pakistan was in the interest of Afghanistan and peaceful Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan. Earlier, the JUI-F leader went on details of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, which later named as Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in Pakistan after partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947.

After multiple armed resistance movements for getting liberation from British colonial rulers, the Islamic scholars have first established Darul Uloom Deoband in 1877 and later Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in 1919, he said. Since that day, the Jamiat believes in peaceful struggle through democratic ways for its objectives, he said.

On such grounds, he recalled that his party along with others since long denounced terrorism in all its form. On this occasion, he severely condemned bomb explosion in Parachanar, headquarter of Kurram Agency and termed it an inhuman act. Fazl avoided questions of the participation of female members and followers in the three-day gathering.

“JUI-F male members are too competent and they can represent their families very well in the gathering,” he said. According to JUI-F spokesperson Abdul Jalil Jan, the gathering will be held on around 10,000 kanal of land and 25,000 volunteers from all over the country were engaged in arrangements.

Beside other, delegates of religious parties and organisations from all over the country are expected to attend the gathering. Even two helipads also established for the VVIP’s both internally and externally.
