Clash at Pak-Afghan border injures 3

QUETTA: At least three people were injured on Saturday when protesters clashed with security officials at the Pak-Afghan border crossing point of Chaman in Balochistan.

According to reports, the clash started during checking of travellers’ Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and other travel documents at the border crossing.

The altercation – that started apparently over a delay in verification of documents – turned into a scuffle with the security officials, who resorted to baton-charge and areal firing to disperse the crowd. The protesters also pelted stones at the border officials.

The border crossing was closed down due to the dispute but reopened after two hours.
