Enrollment of students in schools increased: Maiza Hameed

Parliamentary Secretary for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Maiza Hameed Friday said that enrollment of students in educational institutions had been increased in entire country by the efforts of government.

Speaking at a prize distribution ceremony of Centralized Annual Examination of class 5th and 8th organized here, she said that public schools of the capital were performing well than private sector due to successfully implementation of the Prime Minister Education Reforms’ Programme.

As many as 22,878 students were participated in the exams of 5th class out of which 21,109 had been passed with average of 92.27 while in middle standard (scholarship) examination, a total of 1698 students participated in the exams out of which 1472 had been passed with an average of 86.69.

The first, second and third position holders  had been awarded with shields and a cash prize of Rs 15000, Rs 12000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

The credit, she said went to Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for their un-tired efforts to raise the standard of schools. Maiza Hammed, while lauding the efforts of position holders said that girls were now securing top positions, which was a good sign, adding that it was only because of the hard work of their teachers, parents and head of the institutions.

She urged the girls to focus on their studies and project a soft image of the country to the world. The standard of Montessori classes in the federal capital was now high than private schools due to education reforms program, she added.

She said that more than 200 buses were being provided to the public schools especially in the rural areas aiming at to facilitate the girls with safe transportation, living in remote areas of the capital.

Ministry of CADD, she said, would discuss the proposals of best teacher award and the provision laptops/tablets for position holders students, with Maryam Nawaz, she added. An improvement was seen in the capital schools after initiating of Prime Minster Education Reforms Program, Maiza emphasized.

Earlier, in his address Advisor to Prime Minister Education Reforms Program, Ali Raza said that the upgradation work in 200 schools/colleges of the capital to be started from next month.

While Coordinator PM Reforms Programme Dr Tariq Masood said that besides other development projects in the educational institutions, the new teacher’s induction and teachers training program had also been started.

Director, Examination Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Zulifqar Ali congratulated the parents, teachers and students on their success.

The ceremony was also attended by the parents, teachers and a large number of students from different schools of the capital.
