The National Security Advisor (NSA) to the Prime Minister Nasir Khan Janjua’s appointment has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday.

An organisation, the Khuday Khidmatgar Tanzeem, has filed an application in the LHC and presented its stance that according to Article 93 of the Constitution, an advisor can only provide advice to the prime minister when needed. Instead, Gen (r) Nasir Khan Janjua is using the powers of a federal minister and exceeding his legal limits, the petition claims.

The tanzeem has requested that the court should prevent Nasir Janjua from using the authorities of a federal minister.

The applicant has also asked the court to remove the NSA from his post for giving a policy statement.
