The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has helped an expatriate Pakistani based in the US retrieve his house worth Rs 120 million from illegal occupation by his close relatives after 14 years.
OPC Vice Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt said that Imtiaz Ahmed Syed of Jersey City, USA, lodged a complaint that his close relatives had seized his 2 kanal house situated in Johar Town, Lahore.
His relative had requested for a temporary stay of 3 months but afterwards refused to vacate the house. Shaheen Khalid Butt said that the complaint was referred to the District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC) Lahore which after continuous and concerted efforts had the house vacated and handed it back to its original owner.
Lauding the efforts of the OPC, Imtiaz said that the establishment of the OPC was a revolutionary step to help resolve issues of expatriate Pakistanis and that the institution was providing the maximum possible help to expatriates.
