Lahore Corps Commander Lt Gen Mohammad Sadiq Ali called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday to exchange ideas on professional issues, security, and Operation Rad-ul-Fasad.
The two expressed their satisfaction over the continued action against terrorists and their facilitators and reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against the insurgency until its complete eradication.
The chief minister said that the mind-sets auxiliary to terrorism, extremism, insurgency, and sectarianism needed to be reformed.
He also paid tributes to the sacrifices of the officers and sepoys of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. Shehbaz Sharif said that the war against terrorism was actually a war of existence for Pakistan and that the incredible sacrifices of the nation were bringing peace back to the country.
The Pakistan Army is capable of dealing with both internal and external threats, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan had made incredible achievements in the war against terrorism and it is hoped that Operation Rad-ul-Fasad will stop the malevolence of fear based oppression.
He said that the national action plan (NAP) was a certification of peace in Pakistan and that joint decisions of the political leadership and armed forces were bearing fruitful results. He said that the world had acknowledged the great sacrifices being rendered by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and that the whole nation stood firm against terrorists.
The chief minister vowed that those playing with innocent lives will be held accountable and that no stone would be left unturned to defeat extremism.
