Highlighting the importance of technical and vocational education, Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Baligh-ur-Rehman said that a properly trained person will not only help himself in terms of getting better employment opportunities and ensuring safe work and the society will also benefit from his skills and efficiency.
He expressed these views, while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Al Firdous Vocational Training Centre here in Bara Kahu on Thursday. The minister said that technical and vocational education was as important for society as conventional education.
The training centre has been established under public-private partnership programme by Al-Firdous Community School in collaboration with National Education Foundation (NEF).
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that most students who left schools after primary due to various personal or social reasons often found their way into these vocational training centers and turned out to be expert workmen and technicians after getting training from such centers.
The minister said that a properly trained person would not only help himself in terms of getting better employment opportunities and ensuring safe work but the society would also benefit from his skills and efficiency.
Emphasizing on technical and vocational training, Baligh vowed that focus on technical and vocational education would also help increase our national productivity; hence both boys and girls should have given the opportunities to get vocational education so as they could became productive members of the society.
The minister said that besides formal education, the teachers should also inculcate positive thinking in students, teach them ethics and good habits.
“Young population is our biggest strength; we need to harness their talent, make them useful knowledge seekers and active contributors for well being of society”, he said. On public-private partnership, he said that such ventures have indeed brought encouraging results. “A dedicated and sincere private management helps the government in their efforts to serve the society”, he said.
About the Quran Education Bill, the minister said that the teaching of Quran to school students with easy to understand translation would help spread true message of Quran and Islam and hence counter extremist ideologies. “A true Muslim desires not only the welfare of human kind, but also the betterment of surrounding environment and ecosystem”, he said.
