Salahuddin Mehsud appointed KP IGP

PESHAWAR: Senior officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, Salahuddin Mehsud has been appointed the new head of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

A Grade-21 officer, Salahuddin Mehsud, who led the Counter-Terrorism Force for over two years also held meetings with key government officials in Islamabad on Wednesday where he was heard before his posting.

According to local media reports, IGP Akhtar Ali Shah is likely to be appointed Commandant Frontier Constabulary (FC). The incumbent FC commandant Liaqat Ali Khan is expected to be posted as the director general Federal Investigation Agency.

The important office of the police chief of the province is vacant for almost two weeks since the retirement of Nasir Khan Durrani, who completed his tenure on March 16.

A list of three officers was sent to the federal government for posting of the new IGP KP. The list included names of Akhtar Ali Shah, Salahuddin Mehsud and Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police Shaukat Hayat.
