LAHORE: Members of a minority community facing a trial in an anti-terrorism court, were reportedly approached by a prosecutor who told them that he ‘could guarantee their acquittal’ if they renounced their faith and embraced Islam, rights activists claim.

According to Joseph Franci, a human rights activist, Deputy District Public Prosecutor Syed Anees Shah gathered the accused outside the courtroom and had this conversation with them.

Some 42 members of the Christian community were charged with lynching two men in protests that broke out after the twin suicide blasts in Youhanabad in Lahore on March 15, 2015.
