The former minister, while lauding the contributions of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) in this regard, said that launching the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) was an important step to boost up the financial status of the women in the rural areas.

Chandio applauded the NRDP’s efforts regarding the health, education and economic empowerment of the rural women. The Sindh government is taking every possible measure for health and education of the rural women, he added.

He said, “Collaboration of the government and social organisations in this regard can assist us in completing this task sooner”.

Earlier, NRDP Executive Director Mirza Moqeem, while addressing the participants, said that health, education and economic development could play a key role in empowering rural women.

The NRDP executive director, while introducing the smartphone referral technology, said, “We can reduce the death rate of a mother and child by timely experts’ advice and opinion from doctors through the introduction of smartphone referral technology in health sector”.

The NRDP aims to politically, socially and economically empower the low-income rural communities, especially women, he concluded.
