Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the only road leading to prosperity and development is education, which creates vision, quality, and cognizance in the country.
He vowed to complete the target of bringing each offspring of Punjab into school before elections to ensure that none of them are denied education, adding that quality education is not the right of elites only.
He lamented that the elites yearn for a quality education and health care facilities for their youngsters; however, when somebody purposes same for the poor they feel disturbed. “We need to change this attitude, framework and culture, letting the poor cherish similar benefits,” he added
CM shared these thoughts while tending to a function held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal regarding school enrollment campaign 2017. Speaking at this occasion, CM said that this campaign is being launched every year and today, “we are gathered here for this purpose as this ceremony is linked with 36 others districts of the province through a video link.” He said that assembly members, the newly elected leadership of districts, concerned officials of the education department, and students are asserting to make this campaign fruitful with passion and hard work by accepting the challenge of ensuring that none of the children of Punjab is left out of school.
The chief minister said that he has always given importance to the training of teachers because only a well-trained teacher can polish his students to compete with the latest trends. He said that an incredible venture in the field of education was the establishment of Punjab Education Foundation through which 22 lakh children will be provided with quality education.
The CM said that Punjab government has ensured the implementation of transparent policies in the province, and the past eight years have witnessed the recruitment of talented teachers on merit. He said that 80,000 teachers are being recruited this year as well amongst which 50 per cent are females.
CM said that it is sad that children in some schools were forced to do the chores of a gardener and cleaner, nevertheless, “we will not tolerate any such atrocity.”
He said doctors and paramedical staff are meant to serve humanity; however, it has been observed that many precious lives of patients have been risked due to the strikes of doctors. Kidney hospital in Multan was established with Rs2 billion but the machinery of millions has rusted due to the negligence of doctors which is very dismaying, he said. “Therefore,” he added, “I have decided to hand over the management of this hospital to Indus Trust, which is already operating Tayyeb Erdogan Hospital in Muzzafarghar and Ludher Hospital of Lahore effectively,” he shared.
He said that he will not allow anyone to plunder the tax money of the nation and will go to the last limit to provide quality education and health services to his people.
Schools Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmed khan, on this occasion, said that Shehbaz Sharif has taken great steps to provide education to the less privileged families of Pakistan which show his deep interest in promoting education.
PEF Vice president Dr Amjad Saqib said that he (Shehbaz Sharif) is rendering noble services for educating the children. Provincial ministers, members National and Provincial Assembly, vice chancellors, principals, teachers, parents, students, columnists and education experts graced the ceremony.
