ASTORE: Awareness about vaccination and efforts of the government and community mobilisers have helped in controlling the spread of polio virus in Astore district, a senior official of the civil administration said.
District Health Officer (DHO) Mumtaz Khan said that the government’s efforts to eradicate polio disease were yielding positive results as no polio case had been reported from any part of the district this year.
The health department staff had achieved the set target by vaccinating all children under five years of age during the recently held campaign.
He said, “Polio was a crippling disease that could only be eradicated by vaccinating the kids with the anti-polio vaccine.”
