RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa believes that the experience gained by Pakistan in the war against terror has been invaluable.
The army chief said that the armed forces had become battle hardened by the fight against terror which has made them well prepared for ‘conventional war.’
The remarks were made on a visit to Bahawalpur Garrison where he was given details on operational readiness, ongoing internal security operations and other aspects of Corps functioning. The COAS expressed his satisfaction with the Corps.
Addressing garrison officers, the COAS said that operation Radd-ul-Fasaad will bring lasting peace and stability to the country. He praised the exemplary performance of young officers and sacrifices rendered by them during security operations. He said that young officers are the pride of the nation which owes them their peace and stability.
Later, COAS inaugurated Combined Military Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) at Bahawalpur. The institute will have first batch of 100 MBBS students this year while another 50 BDS students will be added from next year.
Earlier the army chief was received on arrival by Commander Bahawalpur Corps Lieutenant General Sher Afgun.
