PTI workers hold protest outside Imran’s house

Young workers and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Karak on Sunday arranged protest outside the residence of party Chairman Imran Khan at Bani Gala against PTI lawmakers from the district.

Speaking to the party workers, Imran reiterated his resolve that the PTI would not budge an inch from its ‘principled’ position and the party would keep on its struggle for ‘meritocracy’ and just system. He held out assurance to the protesters that their due demands would be addressed at all cost.

Some days ago, the internal differences in PTI’s Karak chapter turned severe due to which the disgruntled workers formed a 20-member committee tasked to meet the party chief at his residence in the federal capital to apprise him about the whole situation.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the annoyed workers and former office-bearers of the party chaired by PTI former district president Altaf Qadir. The PTI workers said that the government institutions had been rendered dysfunctional owing to political interference.

They asked for across the board accountability of people involved in corruption and utilisation of the resources on welfare of the locals. Imran assured the workers that all their genuine concerns would be ironed out and no one would be allowed to breach the party’s ‘principle of justice and merit.’

The PTI chairman said that the tickets for the next general elections would be given on merit and the sentiments of the party’s workers would be given due respect. He assured the protesting party workers that they need not to be worried, as he himself would distribute party’s tickets for the forthcoming general elections.

Imran said that before distributing tickets, those who were given tickets during the last elections would be first held accountable. He said that the party was formed for justice and accountability and it would not compromise of its fundamentals come what may.

PTI was not prepared for May 2013 general elections; however this time around the party will go into the poll with full preparation and he would distribute tickets on the basis of performance, he added. Imran Khan said that he himself would assess the eligibility of the ticketholders for the next elections.
