KARACHI: The Sindh Nursing Examination Board (SNEB) has failed to announce annual results of general nursing diploma and other courses despite a lapse of over two months as major administrative posts have been lying vacant in the board for last several months.
Sindh has announced a health emergency in the province, but the health department does not have the required capacity to deal with things.
An official of SNEB, on condition of anonymity, told PPI that major administrative posts like the Nursing Examination Board controller, deputy controller and assistant controller have been lying vacant at the Nursing Board since last several months owing to negligence and slackness of the Sindh Health Department.
The official said that the annual result of three-year general nursing diploma, one-year specialisation, one-year midwifery, lady health visitors and lady health works courses have not announced yet despite the lapse of over two months.
He said annual exams of general nursing diploma and other courses were held at the end of December 2016 and January 2017 instead of September or October 2016 while the results were also delayed for over two months.
The admissions in nursing institutions have also not started as yet due to delay in announcement of results, he added.
He said future of score of male and female nursing students was at stake in Sindh due to the traditional apathy of high-ups of the health department.
He further said that that key posts like the nursing director, deputy director, assistant director and planning Officer were also lying vacant at the Sindh Nursing.
Male and female nursing students who have applied for diploma certificates have been facing inconvenience due to unavailability of officials on key posts, he concluded.
