ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday chaired a meeting to review the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) new sector development plan, including proposed housing sector for overseas Pakistanis and new commercial areas.
An official statement issued by the Finance Ministry said that the finance minister chaired a meeting of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) and CDA’s senior officials regarding the development of new sectors by the CDA including the proposed housing sector for the overseas Pakistanis.
CADD Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and the Islamabad mayor were also present.
The meeting was briefed about CDA’s plans for the development of new sectors and commercial areas.
The minister said that prioritisation of different options for development of new sectors should be made after detailed technical assessments. He said that with the increased economic activity, the urban housing needs were also increasing and CDA should respond to the new requirements.
The finance minister, while assuring the CDA of government’s support, said the housing sectors, including the one for overseas Pakistanis, should be developed in accordance with the international standards. The minister hoped that CDA would make all out efforts for accelerating the work on the development of new sectors.
He said that the proposed sector for overseas Pakistanis would give them an opportunity of safe and secure investment besides, providing them with a quality residential environment with all amenities.
Overseas Pakistanis are keen to take advantage of investment opportunities in the country and the only need was to facilitate them in all possible ways, Dar added.
The CADD minister said that development of new sectors was an important initiative and it was important to implement it at a fast pace.
The Islamabad mayor assured that CDA would complete the preliminary work and make a detailed presentation on work plans for the new sectors.
