Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Line of Control (LoC) in Kel sector and forward post at Sharda in Neelum Valley of Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Murree General Officer Commanding Major General Azhar Abbas briefed him on the situation along the Line of Control and the ceasefire violations by India in recent months. The army chief was also apprised regarding army’s support to ongoing housing and population census.

General Bajwa appreciated the state of operational preparedness and response to the ceasefire violations. He said that the Indian propaganda regarding the presence of ‘miscreants’ along the LoC was aimed at spreading unrest in Azad Jammu Kashmir, which would never succeed.

He said that the Kashmiri people were fully aware of the Indian atrocities in the other part of the disputed state and the Indian agenda. He said that the Pakistan Army would continue to ensure protection and security of people along the Line of Control.

General Bajwa also directed to ensure progress and development work in the area in coordination with the Kashmiri government. On arrival, the military chief was received by Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza.
