KHAIRPUR: Due to acute shortage of formal schools in public sector more than 36,000 seminaries are providing free of cost education, mainly to children of low-income families in Pakistan, a moot was told here.
As per details, the Institute of Islamic Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organised an extension lecture on “Current Situation of Madrasas in Pakistan and their future”, presided over by Faculty of Arts and Languages Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Yousuf Khushk.
Pakistan Madarsa Education Board Chairman Prof Dr Aamir Tehseen delivered the lecture.
Addressing the participants, Prof Dr Amir Tehseen, said at present approximately 36,000 Madarsas were working, and data of 22,000 Madarsas was available whereas remaining Madarsas were not registered.
He suggested that all the seminaries should be registered having uniform syllabus pertaining to religious and contemporary education.
Dr Aamir said it was about time that religious harmony was promoted to strengthen the security apparatus of the state and for the betterment and welfare of the people.
Prof Dr Muhammad Yousuf Khushk said that the Institute of Islamic Studies has been striving for the promotion of the research culture and sizeable numbers of research scholars were embarking research work on the various aspects of the teaching, philosophy, values and ethics of Islam.
Earlier, MPhil and PhD programmes Coordinator Dr Sajjad Ali Raeesi welcomed the guest speaker and shed light on the achievements of the institute. He said, “Islam is the religion of tolerance and brotherhood and its message is universal peace and harmony”.
A large number of scholars and students attended the lecture programme.
Meanwhile, a one-day National Conference on “The Role of Saints in Promotion of Human Dignity and Religious Harmony”, organised by the Institute of Islamic Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur will be held on Tuesday 28th March 2017 at Allama II Kazi Hall of University.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah will preside over the conference.
