Academic Staff Association (ASA) of Punjab University (PU) condemned the recent clash between two student groups and also requested the university administration to take stern action against all internal and external elements involved in the incident.

ASA President Javed Sami said that the recent incidents of violence have seriously damaged academic and research activities in the university. The association also demanded that such elements should be punished severely so that such incidents could not be repeated in the future. It is pertinent to mention here that over a dozen students were injured in a scuffle between two student unions of the university earlier this week. Both the student unions Islami Jamiat Talba and Pakhtun Education Development Movement kept blaming each other for the ugly episode of that day. The ASA said that we ensure our teachers’ community that nobody would be allowed to spoil the peaceful environment of the university.
