Pakistan Day celebrated with fervour, enthusiasm

PAF marked the day with air show at beach

 

 

As elsewhere, the Pakistan Day was marked in the metropolis with enthusiasm, fervour and in a befitting manner.

The day, a public holiday, began in the provincial metropolis with a 21-gun salute.

Special prayers were also offered for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country.

To pay homage to the father of the nation, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair along with the members of the provincial cabinet, visited the Mazar-e-Quaid, laid floral wreath, offered Fateha and recorded his impressions in the Visitors’ Book.

The governor, on the occasion, said that the day demanded that concerted efforts be undertaken to realise the vision of Quaid-i-Azam- a strong, developed and prosperous Pakistan. Everyone should contribute his or her bit towards this end, he added.

The Sindh governor said that Pakistan was established after immense sacrifices and concerted efforts would have to be made to make the country strong and prosperous as desired by Quaid-i-Azam.

The representatives of the three services also visited the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.

On behalf of the citizens of Karachi, Mayor Wasim Akhtar, Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra, also visited the Mazar-e-Quaid, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.

The newspapers brought out special supplements, and radio and television channels presented special programmes to highlight the significance of the day.

Various political, social and non-governmental organisations chalked out programmes to mark the Pakistan Day in a befitting manner.

The Pakistan Air Force enthralled the Karachiites with a spectacular air show at the Seaview Clifton Beach on Thursday afternoon.

F-16, JF-17 Thunder and the Mirage planes of the PAF participated in the hour-long show witnessed by a large number of people.

Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair was the chief guest of the Air Show.

Air Vice-Marshal Salman Ahsan Bukhari, Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar, senior civil and military officers were present on the occasion.

Muhammad Zubair praised the skills and expertise of those who participated in the air show that included fly past, paragliding and aeromodelling.

Meanwhile, a function in connection with Pakistan Day was also organised by Cadet College Larkana, near Mohen-jo-dero.

Cadet College Larkana Principal Lt Col (Retd) Iftikhar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion.

The chief guest performed the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the singing of the national anthem in a chorus.

College Adjutant Major Abdullah, Vice Principal Academics Sikandar Ali Channa, teaching staff, and cadets of the college were also present.

On the occasion, national songs, folk songs, and tableaus were presented by the cadets of the college.

Speaking on the occasion, Iftikhar Hussain paid rich tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah–the founder of Pakistan – and other leaders of Pakistan Muslim League.

“Pakistan Day (23rd March) reminds us of the struggle of the Muslims of the sub-continent”, he said.

The chief guest, on the occasion, also distributed the prizes and certificates among the cadets who participated in the various competitions.
