ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and Foundation for Advancement of Medical Science (FAMS) have signed a record note to provide scholarships to deserving and bright students of OPF educational institutions to continue their studies in public sector medical colleges.
OPF Managing Director Habib Ur Rehman Gilani and Chairman of FAMS Dr Aamir Ayub signed the note at OPF Head Office, a press release issued on Wednesday stated.
Gilani thanked Dr Ayub for this laudable initiative and said the present government and OPF board of governors were agreed that overseas Pakistanis were the real assets of Pakistan.
He said the OPF was not only working for welfare of Pakistani expatriates but also taking steps to welcome welfare organisations of overseas Pakistanis to work in Pakistan.
Dr Aamir Ayub informed eleven years back, with collaboration of some British-Pakistani doctors, FAMS was established aiming at providing assistance to deserving and intelligent Pakistani students of medical science.
He informed that with the help of FAMS, presently bright and deserving students were getting medical education in fourteen medical colleges of Pakistan.
He said with the collaboration of OPF, he wanted to expand working of his organisation throughout Pakistan.
Dr Ayub appreciated the welfare activities of the OPF and said welfare organisations of overseas Pakistanis could be brought into Pakistan to deliver across the country.
