Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja convened a meeting here on Wednesday to review transitional challenges and evolve an effective strategy to expedite ongoing development projects under the Lahore district government.
It was reiterated in the meeting that the elected local bodies throughout the province should try their utmost to complete ongoing development schemes by the end of the current fiscal year. For this purpose, all out measures to facilitate the local bodies will be taken through effective coordination among the relevant provincial departments and district governments.
The meeting also reviewed bottlenecks and teething problems after the transition of powers from the provincial government to the local bodies and finalised deliberations for their solution as the top most priority by strengthening the newly elected set up at the local level in the province.
Lahore Mayor Mubashar Javed, Local Government and Community Development Secretary Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, the finance secretary, public health engineering department representatives and PHA Lahore Director General Mian Shakeel Ahmad also attended the meeting.
