Two policemen killed as train crashes into their car in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: Two policemen were killed on Tuesday when a train rammed into a police convoy in Nowshera.

According to a Rescue 1122 official, Azakhel police station SHO Hameen Khan and Constable Ziaur Rehman were killed, while Sub-Inspector Akhtar Hussain and Constable Zabihullah were seriously injured when their van was overrun by Kushal Express.

SHO Hameen Khan, sub-inspector Akhtar Hussain and their colleagues were on routine patrolling in the area when the train hit the convoy leaving it completely destroyed, a local said.

The locals shifted the injured police officer and constable to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for treatment. They are said to be critical.

The rail department has suspended railway traffic as authorities are working in the area to clear the track.
