ISLAMABAD: Indus Water Commissioners of Pakistan and India on Tuesday will hold second round of talks in Islamabad.
The Pakistani delegation is being headed by Mirza Asif Saeed while P K Saxena is leading the Indian delegation.
On the first day, both sides discussed issues relating to water resources and dilated upon ways to resolve bilateral differences.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif reiterated that Indus Waters Treaty is one of the world agreements, which provides amicable solution of the serious water issues between the two countries.
Khawaj Asif said, “Secretary level talks on Ratle hydroelectric plant will begin on 12th April in Washington between the Pakistan and India.”
The minister hoped that things will move in the positive direction as a result of the meeting between Permanent Indus Commissioners of Pakistan and India.
“Outstanding problems relating to the Indus Basin will be discussed during the two-day meeting,” he said.
Khawaja Asif said, “The meeting will discuss the design aspects of Pakal Dul, Lower Kalnai and Miyar hydroelectric plants, flood data supply by India.”
The dialogue relating to Indus Waters Treaty was suspended in 2015 and now taking place almost after two years break.
“Pakistan has welcomed the readiness of India for talks at Indus Water Commissioners level,” he said.
