LAHORE: Punjab authorities will hold an anti-polio campaign in 11 districts starting from Monday (today).
The three-day anti-polio drive also begins in twenty-nine districts of Balochistan, six districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA today.
In Punjab,the drive will be launched in the districts of Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Khanewal, Lodhran, Toba Tek Singh, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan and 37 union councils of Sahiwal.
In Balochistan, more than two point four million children up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign will be carried out in Peshawar, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Abbottabad and Mansehra districts.
Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Ali Jan Khan said that over 5.9 million children below the age of five years would be vaccinated.
The primary and secondary healthcare department has made elaborate arrangements to vaccinate children in these districts and constituted mobile teams that will visit each house to ensure all children are administered polio drops.
A three-day campaign against polio also begins in Gilgit and Diamer today.
Special security measures have been chalked out to ensure security of polio teams.
