This is the worst man-made disaster the world has seen since World War-II. A generation in what was one of the Arab world’s most cultured nations is being lost.
Six years of continuous war in Syria imposed by United States in a series to smash the Muslim world in the Middle-East region, perhaps to subside the threat to Israel and mainly to safeguard Israel’s interest. The Syrian war was imposed also to oust Bashar al-Assad, who was another muscular Muslim leader in the region and who could be a threat to Israel. This turbulence has resulted millions of innocent citizens killed, the highest number after the world war-II, millions are left shelter-less and as refugees. A report is being issued this week by the United Nations showing a fresh perspective. It mainly concerns Syrian children, who it says suffered their “worst year” in 2016. The losses it chronicles are staggering, and heartbreaking.

Many died in the systematic bombing by the opposite forces; in at least 87 attacks in the troubled areas, a good number of schools and their personnel were affected, and more than 255 children were killed in or around educational facilities.
In one week during the fight for Aleppo in September 2016, many schools came under attack due to the severe fights between the forces. Resultantly 96 children were killed and 223 injured. In October 2016, 21 children between the ages of seven and 17 died; others lost limbs or were blinded. According to the UN Syria Commission, the schools had more than 2,000 students but stopped functioning “out of fear of future attacks.”
Many children were gang-pressed into the conflict, more than 850, according to UNICEF, the report mentioned “Children are being recruited at an ever younger age and are increasingly taking part in combat roles, including in extreme cases as executioners, suicide bombers or prison guards.”

UNICEF says 1.7 million children in Syria are out of school, and 2.3 million are living as refugees in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq. Six million kids depend on humanitarian assistance, and they are the lucky ones not trapped in villages and towns that are without food and medicine because of the fierce fight between the rebels and the government forces.
How did the disturbance in Syria start? United States agencies deceitfully used the children to create disturbance in Syria. A group of boys in the southern town of Daraa painted anti-government slogans on walls, they were arrested and tortured, touching off popular demonstrations that started in March 2011 and soon spread to other cities. From the beginning, the Assad regime tried to control the US created disturbance but badly failed, the opposition was highly financed to create all disturbance to destroy the peace of the country. Six years later, now the entire country has become a torture chamber: a place of savage horror and absolute injustice. It is “the worst man-made disaster the world has seen since World War-II.”
Having abandoned feeble attempts to stop the slaughter, western governments, including the Trump administration, are trying to literally screen it out, blocking the flows of increasingly desperate refugees. Peace talks promoted by Russia and Turkey may also show some results if the US agencies are serious. On the other side, the Assad regime is proclaiming its intention to continue its fight against the militants until it gains total control over the entire country. So far, 2017 looks to be another “worst year” for Syria and Syrian children.
If serious, United States and allies should stop feeding the militants and rebels, while signing a peace treaty with Syria and Russia. It will have an immediate effect to stop the clash, and Middle-East will witness a peaceful Syria once again.
