To avoid train accidents, the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM)—an organisation that works under the umbrella of Ministry of Defense—presented a train safety model to Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique here at Railways Headquarters.

NESCOM’s proposed safety model would help control the train collisions and accidents on level crossings. Connected with a radio link, the system would be installed in the locomotive and at level crossings simultaneously, which will have warning lights and sirens to alert the people. Locomotive speed system, vision systems, electromechanical system, train approaching warning system and train collision avoiding system would be devised to curb accidents in future.

Railways minister appreciated the efforts of NDC, saying, “It is a matter of pride for us that our institutions are fully capable of finding solutions to problems through scientific methods and technology. This will minimise our dependence on foreign firms.”
