LAHORE: Wife of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Tehmina Durrani has said the other day, that she would want PML-N to take strict action against MNA Javaid Latif who passed lewd remarks about the sisters of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf’s Murad Saeed.

Speaking at the Liberty Roundabout, Tehmina Durrani also said that Pakistan should now be turned into a social welfare state and that everyone in the country should stand up to get rid of the current system.

The Tehmina Durrani Foundation (TDF) held a vigil at the Liberty Roundabout the other day to remember the victim of an acid attack, Fakhra Younus, who died after her husband Bilal Khar, son of Mustafa Khar, threw acid on her face.

“The culprits have not been held accountable even after five years but I will not abandon my struggle till the culprits are arrested. The Fakhra Younus Day is commemorated every year on the 17th of March, her death anniversary,” she said.

“The women of this country will continue to suffer acid attacks until the government controls or bans access to acid in markets,” she added. “Fakhra was not safe in this Muslim country, and I commend Italy, a non-Muslim country, that provided her treatment,” Durrani said.

“We can follow the model of Edhi Foundation in order to make Pakistan a social welfare state and I need the help of every citizen to accomplish my mission,” she remarked.

She was joined by a large number of members of civil society, who were also present on the occasion.
