Kidney transplantation to become available soon in Bahawalpur

Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Kh Salman Rafiq has said that kidney transplantation facilities would be available in Bahawalpur.

He stated this while visiting the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH)’s Kidney Center.

The minister said that the Kidney Center has been established to provide dialysis and other treatment facilities to the patients along with state-of-the-art operation theaters and other facilities. He directed the medical superintendent to dispose hospital waste according to the health department’s standard operating procedures.

Salman Rafiq also directed further improvement of the hygiene and cleanliness condition in the hospital. He revealed that the upgradation of the cardiac center of the BVH is also on the cards so that the cardiac patients would not have to go to other hospitals for angiography or angioplasty.

The minister took a round of the various departments of the hospital, including the emergency block, pharmacy, medical store, and cardiac center. He also visited wards and inquired after the health of the patients and asked from them about the facilities being provided by the hospital administration.

Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shumail Ahmed Khawaja, Bahawalpur Commissioner Saqib Zafar, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Principal Dr Ajlal Haider Rizvi, and Bahawal Victoria Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Rao Javed Akhtar were also present on this occasion.
