Rawalpindi city roads have become deadly for citizens. Open and empty manholes are the cause of dangerous accidents. Main roads of the city—like Murree road, Jamia Masjid road, and Saidpur road—have become highly risky for citizens, especially for bikers. Authorities, in this regard, have failed to save the lives of citizens.

The ratio of accidents is increasing every passing day because the unfilled manholes are mostly invisible to bike riders.

A biker Waqas, while talking to Pakistan Today, said yesterday he met an accident on the main Murree road at Rahman Abad stop. “The accident was caused because of invisible and improperly covered manhole. Controlling the speed of the bike is very difficult for riders and as they lose control, the accidents end up in serious injuries,” he said.

Travelling on main roads of Rawalpindi has become risky due to open manholes. Inept and newly organised local bodies have so far failed to fulfil the demands of citizens. The surrounding roads of satellite town D block and the 7th road also face similar problems.

Rameez Ahmad, a resident of Satellite Town area, said unplanned roads and unfilled manholes are the main cause of accidents. “Furthermore, the streets of Satellite Town face problems of sewerage, and the streets are always full of water, especially in D block which connects with the 6th road,” he said.

The locals demanded the concerned authorities take serious action to solve these problems of citizens.
