Political Analyst Nasim Zehra on Friday pointed out Punjab government’s goof-up for confusing Russian President Vladimir Putin as Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
Nasim Zehra took to Twitter and shared a picture of a poster put up by Punjab government:
This morning Putin displayed as President of Tartarastan in Lahore at the Club Chowk Mall Road ! pic.twitter.com/ElxPioQ2rX

The poster showed the picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the name of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
The Punjab government replied to Zehra’s tweet justifying their action: “There is NO mistake. Tatarstan is a Republic of Russian federation. Other banners r displaying Excellency Rustam Minnikhanov picture as well.”

Even with the special relation of “federal subject” that the Republic of Tatarstan enjoys with Russia, the poster in question did seem to the denizens of social media to be a bit of a gaffe, since it names one leader and shows another.
And this is how Twitter reacted to Nasim Zehra’s tweet:
@NasimZehra Putin might take the lead and consider attacking Tatarstan. Because, why not?

@NasimZehra Govt. of Punjab is being too blunt. Disclosing who actually controls Tataristan?

@NasimZehra @tahaharoong Pawaris will say he is Putin’s twin brother!

@NasimZehra Mashallah. Looks like our history and geography books remain unchanged and USSR still exist in text books.
