CM Shehbaz reviews progress on hospitals

Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting here on Friday to review the future course of action with regard to the functionality of the new Multan Children’s Hospital building and some key issues of the Multan Kidney Institute.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that hospitals with the latest equipment have been established through the investment of billions of rupees to facilitate patients in southern Punjab. The Kidney Institute has been provided the latest machinery with the public’s hard-earned money, he said.

Shehbaz Sharif said that patients grumbling regarding the unavailability of free medicines will not be tolerated anymore and concerned authorities would be held accountable in case of non-compliance of the set policies.

He directed a team of specialists to visit Multan and present their recommendations to operationalize the new building.

The chief secretary, planning and development chairman, construction and communications secretary, specialized healthcare and medical education secretary, Mian Ahsan of the Indus Health Trust and other officials were among the meeting’s participants.

Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique, the additional chief secretary, Multan commissioner, Multan deputy commissioner Multan Division and other concerned officials attended the meeting through video links.
