Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders (ICST) on Thursday lauded the resolve of the government to ensure uninterrupted supply of LNG to reduce energy crisis.

It also supported the decision of the government to initiate negotiation with Iran for supply of natural gas on reduced prices. Pakistan should also explore the option of importing LNG and LPG from Iran after sanctions are waived as we are in dire need of these resources, said Patron Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders Shahid Rasheed Butt.

He demanded the steps to cull the circular debt which has become a threat to the economy and investment in the energy sector. Pakistan can not only fulfill its energy needs through gas pipelines from Iran and Turkmenistan but also play a role in improving global energy situation as it neighbours China and India, two fastest developing economies.

Central Asian and Iranian gas can flow to Pakistan and later to India as it is the cheapest route, he added.
